Bay Area V D O Production Wedding Videography by Dom Guntavong http://bayareaweddingvideography.com/blog Video Blog (Love Stories) Tue, 08 May 2012 16:05:26 +0000 http://wordpress.org/?v=2.8.4 en hourly 1 Through the Father’s Eyes http://bayareaweddingvideography.com/blog/2012/05/08/through-the-fathers-eyes/ http://bayareaweddingvideography.com/blog/2012/05/08/through-the-fathers-eyes/#comments Tue, 08 May 2012 16:02:03 +0000 dombayareaweddingvideography http://bayareaweddingvideography.com/blog/?p=1406 This highlight film is very much different from any other because the way we told the entire story through the father (of the bride) ’s eyes: How he saw their love unfolded through the years. He had been looking forward the most for all his life for his own daughter’s wedding and how he pictured it would be. And the result is one of the most astonishing and sentimental highlight films yet.

P.s. Also another personal favorite moment for me is when the couple swaps the baseball jackets to each other on the dance floor, unplanned. So here we have our groom who comes from New York City wore The bride’s Giants jacket and our bride wore the groom’s Yankees jacket.

( Testimonial ) Dom is incredible!! I did a lot of research trying to find the right videographer, and feel so thankful to have found Dom! He is passionate & energetic about capturing the special moments of each wedding he films. When I first met with him, he walked me through all of the specifics of each package, and showed me samples of his portfolio. His energy & excitement for what he does was infectious, and I knew he was what I was looking for. He was very easy to work with throughout the process, and made sure to follow up on any information he needed from me. On my wedding day, we barely even noticed Dom & his crew; they really keep a low profile. However, after watching our highlight & music video, I was amazed to see all of the moments Dom had captured and edited together so perfectly! He truly is an artist and I will cherish the videos forever! If you are debating about hiring a videographer – do it! And definitely hire Dom/Bay Area VDO! – Jessica.

What does it mean when one says ” Aloha” to the other? Please find out in this highlight film below, which is packed with laughter and tears, love and joy.

( Testimonial ) This review is a long time coming. My wedding was on June 11, 2011. We had a lovely wedding of about 200 that went by too quick for me to even really register it all. Luckily, we had an awesome videographer that captured the whole day and captured it all so beautifully and accurately that I was able to view and experience that special day differently than through the eyes of a ball of nerves and stress as I was on that fateful day (yes, I planned it all by myself.)
Dom, is very sweet and considerate and based on later comments by guests (after watching the video), they didn’t even realize there were (3) video cameras (and cameramen) that whole evening! That says a lot about the way Dom and his crew was able to capture without being in your face and intruding on the whole event.
Their fee is reasonable compared to other videographers out there — and believe me, I researched and searched high and low for the perfect fee without compromising the product I wanted. (I’m a filmmaker myself and short of producing the whole thing myself, I wanted a good video without having to pay an arm, a leg and my first born.). Dom was THE find and I was lucky they were available on my wedding day.
Needless to say, I was and am very happy with their service before, during, and after.
A few notes in case the above review does not convince you to hire Dom and his crew:
1) You pay half the fee of the package you choose when you hire them and you pay the rest three months later after they finish editing your video. This is helpful when you don’t want to be overwhelmed by the amounting cost of a wedding.
2) They cover 10 hours (I believe) so plenty of time to capture everything.
3) You get three sets of DVDs (one for you, and two for each of the sets of parents) — you definitely get a lot for what you pay for as opposed to others out there who won’t even edit. (And editing is the real work here BELIEVE me). The DVDs have professional menus and include a short music video of the wedding, the wedding in its entirety and all of the unedited footage to do as you want with. – Raelaine

Tears on top (of a wedding cake) http://bayareaweddingvideography.com/blog/2012/02/29/tears-on-top-of-a-wedding-cake-3/ http://bayareaweddingvideography.com/blog/2012/02/29/tears-on-top-of-a-wedding-cake-3/#comments Wed, 29 Feb 2012 16:20:35 +0000 dombayareaweddingvideography http://bayareaweddingvideography.com/blog/?p=1339 Tears (of joy) in a wedding are not a stranger to me. I saw a couple cry while they exchanged their wedding vows. I saw a couple cry on their first dance and in their father daughter/ mother son dances. I even saw the maid of honor cry while giving toast to the couple. They still always touch me yet hardly surprise me.
However in this wedding of Marcy and Vance, I found theirs tears in an unexpected place – while their were cutting their wedding cake!
As you will see in this highlight film, there were so many laughs in this wedding. But at the end of the night-right after when the couple cut their cake, they looked at each other and just like that, tears started coming down from Marcy’s eyes (unstoppable). And I surely can feel their unspoken love. This is what I call an unexpected, precious moment. It touches me so much that I put this right at the beginning of this highlight film.
Marcy and Vance picked this song “Built to last” which has this lyric: “Cause this is real, and this is good. It warms the inside just like it should …”.
And that’s exactly how I felt and created this highlight film for Marcy and Vance with the feeling of a summer breeze, refreshing and heartwarming …

( Testimonial ) My biggest advice to brides and grooms besides hiring a DOC is to hire a videographer. At the end of the day, all you’ll have left are pictures and videos. As a former bride, I must emphasize that the day will go by so terribly fast that you’ll want to relive the moments and to catch those that you missed.
Hiring Dom and his team was one of the easiest decisions that I made during my entire wedding planning. Dom responses to emails super fast and is a steal for his quality of work. He is super easy to work with and on the day of the wedding, you know you’ll be in good hands.
On the day of my wedding, Dom arrived before I did. He greeted me and for the rest of the day, I forgot he was even there! He was super professional and worked very well with my photographer.
I couldn’t be happier with the final product. One of the things that I liked most was the highlight/music video. It’s nice to relive the day in 4 minutes versus watching the entire video. Not going to lie…I totally cried when I watched the video! Dom captured all the important moments and even the moments that I didn’t know existed.
Dom is really in tune with what a bride/ grooms wants and feels. I highly recommend Dom and his team. – MARCY

A mother’s ultimate wish http://bayareaweddingvideography.com/blog/2012/02/14/a-mothers-ultimate-wish-2/ http://bayareaweddingvideography.com/blog/2012/02/14/a-mothers-ultimate-wish-2/#comments Tue, 14 Feb 2012 05:24:10 +0000 dombayareaweddingvideography http://bayareaweddingvideography.com/blog/?p=1333 What a Korean mother wished for her own daughter is fascinating.

She did not wish for a big house or a big bank account for her daughter. She only wish for her child to find a true love. And that child did! (The whole thing got explained in the first part of this highlight film)

The song that we use in this video is a poetry which describes how “the moment” can be so overwhelming, beautiful and emotional until it takes your breath away.
And that’s exactly how we ( the bride and I ) feel about it.

( Testimonial ) At first we didn’t think of even having a videographer for our wedding, but realized after seeing other wedding music video clips and at the suggestion of family, how meaningful they could be in capturing the sights and sounds of our big day that we were planning.
We found Bay Area VDO through the Best of Bay Area site, and contacted Dom about potentially filming our wedding. From the first time we met with Dom, he was always so friendly and professional. He was very clear about the packages that he offers, the hours of filming and videographers. Dom takes pride in his work and makes it clear that he wants to know what is important to the couple in filming their wedding, such as people, places and details that he and his team should film, and any stylistic preferences.
We appreciated his honesty in setting real expectations on film styles that his team can/can’t do, depending on the wedding venue, lighting, etc. Despite his very busy schedule of filming, editing and meeting with clients (he gets booked up quickly!), Dom is extremely responsive with email and always gets back to you in a very timely manner when setting up meetings and answering questions, which is so helpful when dealing with multiple vendors in the planning process.
With the hours of video that his team (3-4 videographers) shoots (Dom is there to film himself and doesn’t outsource to other videographers), he edits the film to make music videos of the important parts of your wedding such as: Getting Ready and Pre/Post Ceremony, in addition to the wedding music video that sums up the big day. He also offers a Blu-Ray copy included with the package!
We are so glad not only to have photos of our wedding, but to also have film of meaningful moments such as the best man/maid of honor speech, first dance, and to see our guests mingling while we were getting ready.
We would definitely recommend Bay Area VDO to anyone looking for a videographer for a special event! To couples thinking about Bay Area VDO, we would suggest booking early. – Richard.

A thousand men http://bayareaweddingvideography.com/blog/2012/01/23/a-thousand-men/ http://bayareaweddingvideography.com/blog/2012/01/23/a-thousand-men/#comments Mon, 23 Jan 2012 23:55:43 +0000 dombayareaweddingvideography http://bayareaweddingvideography.com/blog/?p=1314 How can a wedding undo a big disappointment from 25 years ago? This is something that we would like you to find out from this highlight film below.

( Testimonial ) It’s hard to put in words how beautiful our wedding video came out because no words can do it justice! Dom is an artistic genius and his passion for shooting weddings is amazing to see. I knew from the beginning that I wanted a video of our big day, but I wanted to make sure I was going to have someone who knew what he was doing. When Dom showed my husband and I scenes from weddings he’s done before, I was sold. I loved how Dom and his team paid close attention to detail and captured every important moment of the day. That’s what we wanted, and Dom delivered! From the moment he arrived to my house to shoot the “bride getting ready” to the end of the night when we had our last dance and said goodbye to our wedding guests, Dom and his team were right there making sure to capture it all. Our wedding had 200 guests and there was a lot going on, but Dom made sure that his eyes we on us the whole time, and yet was still able to get footage of everyone else around us at the party! For example, my Grandmother randomly called me over to her table and I thought she wanted to give me a hug and a kiss, no big deal. I was wrong. She wanted to give me a special gift right there at the table…a gold bracelet heirloom that meant a lot to her. When I turned around Dom was right there shinning the spotlight on us to make sure he had it on video. We were at a bad angle, and he had us turn to face the camera so he could get the footage of my grandma putting the bracelet on me. Wow, Dom you are so awesome!!! I didn’t even know you were there! Also I really appreciated when Dom asked my husband and I towards the end of the night if he can tape us in some scenes in the lobby area of our hotel so he can get some beautiful footage of us in the nice scenic background of our wedding venue. He did some research and located the best spots of our venue to do a photo shoot of my husband and I. That footage is breath taking!!!! Our own photographer that I hired didn’t even do that, but Dom did!! That’s the difference between just getting your job done and going above and beyond to have the perfect video. We truly do have the perfect video. We love it!
The music video that shows the highlight of our wedding night is priceless. I can’t stop watching it because it shows all the main parts of the wedding that are the most memorable in a 4-5 minute music video. It’s great when I don’t feel like watching, or have the time to watch the full 4 hour video! It’s a great summary of our night put to the song of your choice! When I gave Dom the approval for posting it on his website, I quickly shared the link on facebook so my friends and family could watch it. THEY LOVED IT! We couldn’t have chosen a better videographer to shoot the most important day of our lives, our wedding! A thousand thank you’s to Dom and his team for there hard work, vision, time, dedication, and true passion for what they do. Sincerely. – Gessica & Gabriel

Mind tricks http://bayareaweddingvideography.com/blog/2012/01/13/fake-proposal-true-love/ http://bayareaweddingvideography.com/blog/2012/01/13/fake-proposal-true-love/#comments Fri, 13 Jan 2012 20:41:56 +0000 dombayareaweddingvideography http://bayareaweddingvideography.com/blog/?p=1305 cristina james 2 If you are reading this blog then chances are that you are planning your wedding and now might know and experience, first hand, how hectic this can be. There are so many decisions and details involved in wedding planning and this can play mind tricks on you, as It did with Cristina, our bride here.
So many things happened prior to and leading up to Cristina and James’ wedding that Cristina found she could not stop thinking about it, even on the wedding Altar. But at the end of the day, Cristina and James had a wonderful, fun, and loving wedding, as you about to see in this highlight film.

( Testimonial ) When we got engaged, we made sure that we would have the best photographer and videogarpher for our special day. Thanks to my now sister-in-law, she recommended Dom to us. When I went to his website and saw bunch of his wedding videos, I knew that he’s the one. From then on I contacted Dom and set an appointment.
Our first impression of Dom was, this guy is funny and really fun to work with…. Oh yeah, his pad is really nice, he has good taste. Then we were so impressed of his works once he showed us some of his videos… Without any hesitations, we booked him right then and there.
When our day came, Dom and his crew were on time. They’re very professional. I was afraid that I would act weird around the camera but we did not even notice that they’re there. He made me feel comfortable while shooting…. And we really felt like stars….
Dom is also prompt, he showed us our wedding trailer the day after the wedding and it was so elegant and dramatic as I was hoping for, i think he read my mind. I was so proud of his work that I shared the video on my facebook, and I couldn’t believe how many people liked it…. The video had 100 hits in just less than 24 hours. He’s also fast on answering your e-mail unlike other vendors.
Finally, when our videos were done, we picked them up right away. Our music video is fantastic. It’s mix of comedy, drama and elegance. Dom really knows what his clients want. He got all the important parts of our wedding and put it in a video. We actually had teary eyes because it’s so good. It’s even better that our music video is blu ray, it’s so clear and nice. We even got 3 copies of a 4 hour edited videos plus a raw footage… you can’t even get that from another vendors.
Our videos are so perfect. It’s like reliving the moment. He really captured everything that went to our wedding. We watched it so many times and never got tired of it. We can’t wait to show our videos to the rest of our families. No words can really explain how good Dom is. Dom and his crew are highly recommended…..
– Cristina

The Unforgettable Journey http://bayareaweddingvideography.com/blog/2011/12/29/tears-on-top-of-a-wedding-cake/ http://bayareaweddingvideography.com/blog/2011/12/29/tears-on-top-of-a-wedding-cake/#comments Thu, 29 Dec 2011 16:53:00 +0000 dombayareaweddingvideography http://bayareaweddingvideography.com/blog/?p=1294 In my 8-year career I thought I had gone through the hardest core weddings already, but this wedding changed everything. It took a long 5 days (yes, you heard it right, 5 days). After a long wedding and cultural traditional, a ton of food and dance, and food and dance again…at the end of the day, it’s a whole spiritual journey by itself and it transformed and prepared everybody into the 5th day, the wedding day. The final experience is so exuberant and joyous, spiritual and unforgettable.

( Testimonial ) Bay Area VDO Production – This name will stay close to our hearts forever. Wedding is such an important part of one’s life and a great video makes it as one of the most memorable moment of the life.
Me and my husband were working so hard so finalize the videographer for our “BIG DAY – Oct 15th 2011″ until we reached the webpage of “Bay Area VDO Production”. It started with a small conversation on phone with Dom to fix an appointment. One thing I definitely want to mention here is that Dom has a great personality. Very sweet and considerate and will listen to the details for hours. During our first meeting with him (which was planned to be just a meeting for discussion) – We discussed all the details for around 2 hours with him and made up our mind right then and there, that we are going forward with this deal.
Our wedding was not a usual wedding for Dom to cover. It was a long 5 days “Punjabi Sikh Wedding”. We had 5 different functions on different days at different locations (San Jose, Lathrop, Union City, and Fremont). Our wedding day was the longest event that started around 7 AM in the morning until Midnight (Again at 3 different locations on one day). Dom and his crew were great to cover each and every bit of our wedding. While we look at the videos now, it seems like we are actually going through those special moments once again. The crew is very hard working and will try their level best to make you happy. They had 4 different cameras to capture each and every detail of our wedding. Dom is a great person to work with – Amazing, soft spoken, helpful, detail oriented and off course a great listener.
Another best thing about them is: you don’t have to pay the full amount at the first place. We paid 50% of the total amount and paid the remaining amount after getting the complete videos. I and my husband loved this option, since it makes you feel comfortable that you are not in the wrong hands. Finally, you get three different set of the DVD’s (edited versions) for yourself and 2 sets for each of the parents along with the shorter versions of the function (I just love these :)), and last but not the least the raw footage.
I will end this review, by saying this: After this, whenever there will be any memorable moment in my life to capture – I WILL GO TO http://www.bayareavdop…
We love you Dom (and your crew). Thanks for everything and thanks for making our wedding day a “Super Special” day for us. – Love, Preety and Navi Cheema

Fake Proposal, True Love http://bayareaweddingvideography.com/blog/2011/12/07/first-love-2/ http://bayareaweddingvideography.com/blog/2011/12/07/first-love-2/#comments Wed, 07 Dec 2011 15:46:46 +0000 dombayareaweddingvideography http://bayareaweddingvideography.com/blog/?p=1273 jason-michelle pic b3.222
Since Jason and Michelle live outside of the Bay Area, we never met them until their wedding day. Of course, before the wedding, we made sure that we got all the information about their wedding and what they wanted in their wedding film. Yet we had no idea about how the couple met.
So on the wedding day, out of nowhere, while Michelle was getting ready, she started to tell the story of how they met to her friends. I grabbed my camera and started to shoot the whole thing. It wasn’t in the original plan to even shoot and include this story in the highlight film at all. But after much thought and contemplation, I knew that their love story was fascinating (almost like a romantic comedy movie) so I decided to include it. The story is of how a fake proposal turned into a true love, and a wedding a decade later… (Please see this highlight film at the bottom of this page)

( Testimonial ) When choosing a videographer, I really didn’t know where to start. None of my friends really gave me any recommendations, so I had to look on the internet. I came across Dom and Bay Area VDO Productions. One view of the highlight video on their website and I was sold. The video looked so amazing. But I thought, our video will probably only be half as good (because that was probably the best work they ever did). Well, I was wrong.
When we first talked to Dom on the phone he was friendly and very accommodating. Due to my wife and me not living in the Bay Area, we had corresponded only though e-mails and phone contact. We only met Dom on the day of our wedding. After speaking with Dom though, he put us at ease and we felt confident that he would do a great job. Once again, we underestimated Dom. He not only did a great job, he did an outstanding job.
On the day of the wedding, Dom and his crew were professional and fun. They stayed out of the way when they needed to be, but were the first to step into the front to make sure that a particular event was being captured. They were not demanding and most of the time I only remember seeing them in the corner of my eye, filming everything. After receiving and viewing all the footage, we noticed that Dom and his crew filmed everything. They didn’t miss a thing.
The final project was worth the wait. Our friends and family initially thought it was taking too long, but once they watched it, everyone cried at how beautiful the video was and admitted that the wait was worth it. Every time my wife and I watch the video, we tear up a bit because it is so beautiful. We’ve seen other peoples videos (not from Bay Area VDO) and they are basic and are nice, but they are not even close to the quality and artistry of ours. Watch the previews on the website and see the quality of the shots and the awesome editing.
Dom is not just a videographer, he is an artist and the way he edited our video it was almost as if he were a part of our family and wanted the best shots and the best editing (which he does for all his clients). Dom also seemed like he put his whole heart into the project (which he did), which we appreciate. Thank you Dom and Bay Area VDO for making us a video that we will cherish forever. -Jason

It has been 8 years now that we have been privileged to be a part of countless weddings and it makes me come to believe in one thing now:
For one day, the wedding day, the couple happens to be immune to all the heat, cold, wet; and time seems to pass by like thunder. Before they knew, Stephanie and Carlos’ wedding had come to the end of the night. They were in the bliss and had no idea that they had just had their outdoor wedding on one of the hottest days in Bay Area records. So much love overwhelmed the couple and that ’s all you can see and feel from this highlight film. Neither the heat nor any hard feelings appeared, just tears of joy coming down from their cheeks.

( Testimonial ) We are so happy that we picked Dom and his crew to do our wedding video!!! We could not be any happier with the work he has done for us. This was an important decision for us because this video is going to be around for forever. After meeting with Dom we were sold! He really makes you feel at ease with his warm and friendly personality. He took into account all wants and needs and discussed every detail with us. His prices are great and his work is high quality. Dom was able to capture every moment of our wedding day. His work is amazing!!- Carlos

First Love http://bayareaweddingvideography.com/blog/2011/10/27/love-story/ http://bayareaweddingvideography.com/blog/2011/10/27/love-story/#comments Thu, 27 Oct 2011 18:12:51 +0000 dombayareaweddingvideography http://bayareaweddingvideography.com/blog/?p=1078 First Love

Who could ever forget their first love? Surely not Brian or Jamie. Yet their first love has been so strong that they made it through many years and so much perseverance. I believe the first-3-minute intro in this video and their music video sum up their love story very well.
On a personal note, from the wedding day through the process of editing and even now, watching this video, I have found myself having big smiles and choking up again and again. Love still lights up my world and touches my heart.

(Testimonial) Dom and his team were absolutely amazing. After much research about videographers and reading reviews on yelp, we came across Bay Area Vdo and were very pleased with the review. What really sealed the deal was Dom’s passion for his work. From when we first met him, to the wedding, and to now Dom has been so friendly and professional. His team was amazing and throughout the wedding I would forget he was there sometimes cause he was so smoothe and never in the way like at some weddings I have seen. When I did remember he was there he would be looking through the camera smiling and really enjoying his job. He was a pleasure to work with and in only a few hours interaction with him, my wife and I felt a good connection. Lastly and more importantly the quality of the DVD’s and the special touch he added to our videos was outstanding. He went above and beyond with his services and we could not have chosen a better videographer for our wedding. Cheers Dom to an amazing job!- Brian

Coming from the Soul http://bayareaweddingvideography.com/blog/2011/10/17/day-dream-dream-day/ http://bayareaweddingvideography.com/blog/2011/10/17/day-dream-dream-day/#comments Mon, 17 Oct 2011 17:29:39 +0000 dombayareaweddingvideography http://bayareaweddingvideography.com/blog/?p=1074 cynthai 2
Fernando met Cynthia in an early year of their medical school. However, this isn’t a typical love-at-first-sight story. In fact, It took years before they even started dating. In that time, they were able to develop a strong friendship and before they knew it they had transformed their relationship from best friends to sweethearts.

The couple picked a Spanish song that reflects their personal love story. As a part of this song keeps singing….
” Blessed God for meeting us on the road,
And for taking away this solitude from my destiny.
Blessed be the light, blessed be the light of your gaze
Coming from the soul.”
For me, True love could take a long time to transform. Yet when It happens, It will touch your soul and breathe a new meaning into your life.

(Testimonial) Dom and his crew are AMAZING!!! My husband and I could not be happier with our wedding video. During the wedding planning, we knew that photography and videography were very important to us. We looked around at several videographers’ work in the area. Bay Area VDO was our number one choice–the music videos on the web were very touching and seemed to really capture the full wedding day. I am not a crier, but I found myself getting teary eyed at many of these clips—without even knowing these people! Dom and his crew were so nice. Upon our first meeting, I knew he’d be great to work with. The crew is very professional, and they really do seem to capture all those special moments w/o even realizing they are there. They were an amazing addition to our special day. Really going the extra mile for the sake of having great video footage—our church was very strict about where videographers could shoot from, and Dom took it upon himself to add an extra videographer last minute because he knew it would be a challenge to get great angles with these restrictions. He even let me borrow his umbrella as a prop for pictures–beautiful white lace. – Cynthia
